The IEBC has fallen short of its target of registering four million new voters in its first phase of voter registration exercise.
The electoral body managed to register only 1,428,056 voters, representing 34% of its national target.
Nairobi County had the highest turnout with 134,670 new voters registered followed by Kiambu (82,754), Kisumu (59,611) and Kakamega (58,397) in the month-long exercise that ended on March 15.
Only seven out of the 47 counties managed to get 50% and above of their set targets.
These are: Kajiado, Marsabit, Tana-River, Narok, Migori, Kiambu and Siaya. Read more…
